Butter Lamb



A Polish Tradition at Easter called Swieconka (pronounced sven-sewn-ka) involves having the Easter holiday food blessed by a priest on Holy Saturday. One of the traditional foods is butter in the shape of a lamb. For years we bought the molded butter lamb at the grocery store. This year I found an article in the February/March edition of "Taste of Home" magazine with the "recipe" for making a butter lamb. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make it. Pictured above is my lamb. It was so much fun to make that it will be our new family Easter tradition for me to make one every year. I thought it might make a really neat addition to a knitter lunch or brunch or dinner buffet any time of the year.

My DDIL will be 22 next week and they will be busy moving into their new house, so we celebrated her birthday on Easter. My mom made a checkerboard cake in chocolate and white with silk flowers and edible glitter on top.
